[/quote] Yeah this is off the mark, say that about calculus if you want, but pre-calc is just a solid HS education. My worry wouldn't be that this is used for college gatekeeping, but that it reflects an actual deficiency that will be hard to overcome later. Needless to say no one uses math they didn't learn, but there are topics in pre-calc that can be very useful, including for understanding statistics.[/quote]
