2nd grade ES kid is doing both 3rd grade language art classes & 2nd grade above level reading small group led by school teacher. He says it is overall fine, but it is sometimes a bit challenged. Anyways that I can supplement to help with improving reading comprehension and writing skills? They are learning to write something after reading novel study. He has difficulty to answer questions with key important words. I think he can't tell what the main points are, and he just retells the whole story with many nonsense details. His writing is okay, but the sentence is a bit grammatical incorrect. English is not my first language, so I need to outsource on this. Thank you.
I'm curious about this too. There's IXL that you can access as a parent for a low monthly rate but it doesn't provide instruction. Khan academy provides some instruction but not sure how good. There are books you can buy but an online program would be nice. More reading and talking about what you read would be great, but would be good to have ideas from somewhere about how to prompt child. Also would love to hear ideas of good books for this age.
