My almost 2 year old has been at a center with livestreaming cameras since she was 3 months old and it was a perk that I liked when choosing between other locations. I understand the concerns some may have but just like everything in life there's pros and cons and it's not for everyone. It was great for me especially when my we first began and I returned to work full time and decided to pump. Making the decision to pump 3x day allowed me to watch her and me personally I think it helped me...since it is sometimes recommended to look at photos....what better way than to see my child in action. It's also been great to just see all the things my child and other children are doing and what their day truly looks like. It may sound "cliche" but I feel like I've gotten to see another side of my child that most arent privy to. My daycare also sends photos and videos through an app but I honestly preferred the live stream because it did not take the staff away from the children and you got to see things from a different perspective not just a small clip. But I will say that the app has better pics since the live stream is at a distance. It also has helped me see how my child functions when I'm not present during transitions, to sleep, to eating, and interacting with others. Our children are different when we aren't present so that's been fun to see! I think livestream is great for anyone that just wants to see their children and are okay with the security measures. If you are using it to supervise staff and find what's wrong with the center then you will have a different experience than me. As someone that works in a school....I understand that things happen especially in group care and I pick and choose my battles. Majority of any questions or concerns I have had are what I directly observe during drop off and pickup in person. *With all that said now that my daughter is almost 2, I know her routine well and work has kept me soo busy that I rarely check the cameras most days. It's still great to have this option but if she had to go somewhere else we could manage without livestreaming.
