I'm a parent. I find it really invasive and I think it actually makes many parents more stressed out.

I could never work in an environment when I’m constantly being watched. It’s like watching caged animals at the zoo.

If you have your kids at a daycare, there needs to be trust and the centers who offer live streaming actually did a disservice for daycare workers.

We had a similar situation, and what worked best for us was using a mini camera during sessions. I didn't tell anyone at first because I just wanted to understand if what my kid was saying lined up with how things actually looked in the room. Once I felt more confident, I used that info to guide our next steps with the therapy team.

Plus I don't want other parents to see my kid

Cameras would make me paranoid. Nope

If you feel so insecure then stay home and take care of your kid. Poor kids, they will stay in a bubble

No I don't like it or want it.

Pedophiles, kidnappers can hack any camera and record your children. Don't

This is not typical or normal for most early childhood programs.

My almost 2 year old has been at a center with livestreaming cameras since she was 3 months old and it was a perk that I liked when choosing between other locations. I understand the concerns some may have but just like everything in life there's pros and cons and it's not for everyone.

It was great for me especially when my we first began and I returned to work full time and decided to pump. Making the decision to pump 3x day allowed me to watch her and me personally I think it helped me...since it is sometimes recommended to look at photos....what better way than to see my child in action.
It's also been great to just see all the things my child and other children are doing and what their day truly looks like. It may sound "cliche" but I feel like I've gotten to see another side of my child that most arent privy to. My daycare also sends photos and videos through an app but I honestly preferred the live stream because it did not take the staff away from the children and you got to see things from a different perspective not just a small clip. But I will say that the app has better pics since the live stream is at a distance. It also has helped me see how my child functions when I'm not present during transitions, to sleep, to eating, and interacting with others. Our children are different when we aren't present so that's been fun to see!

I think livestream is great for anyone that just wants to see their children and are okay with the security measures. If you are using it to supervise staff and find what's wrong with the center then you will have a different experience than me. As someone that works in a school....I understand that things happen especially in group care and I pick and choose my battles. Majority of any questions or concerns I have had are what I directly observe during drop off and pickup in person.

*With all that said now that my daughter is almost 2, I know her routine well and work has kept me soo busy that I rarely check the cameras most days. It's still great to have this option but if she had to go somewhere else we could manage without livestreaming.

Sort of funny but I have a colleague who has her center's live stream on ALL day in the office. It's weird.

I get about 5-10 pics a day, plus a little write up. I'm very happy with all of that.

This. You have to trust the people with your kids. You just have to. A video would be distracting to me while working and I know teachers hate them. It would be so easy for an interaction to look sinister from a certain angle when half-viewed on a phone screen, for example.

It just feeds paranoia and drives talented staff elsewhere.

It might keep teachers accountable, but how well do you know the other parents watching your child? Ick.

When looking at daycares, I considered it a plus as it holds the teachers somewhat accountable and gives me peace of mind that DC is being treated properly. That said, I ultimately chose a center without a camera and that has been fine too as they are highly communicative throughout the day.

Yeah it would be super distracting for me to have access to a livestream video. They should have an open door policy for parents. Don't want video.

What are your thoughts? Does your center have them and are they helpful for the parents?

I know chains like Kindercare does not have them, and La Petit does.

Does Bright Horizon have live stream?
