But there are a lot of reasons someone might have lost weight and there's no way for me to know if it was because they were working at it. I'm not going to risk complimenting all weight loss just in case it was a desired outcome they worked hard towards. Pregnancies aren't always happy occasions. Neither are job changes. Divorces aren't always sad occasions. Neither are layoffs. That's why it's best if you just tell people how you feel about what's going on in your life, and then they can celebrate or commiserate with you instead of trying to impose their feelings onto you.[/quote]
