Having been in the infertility world for many years now, I wouldn’t count your chickens before they hatch. 8 embryos (I assume normal blasts?) is great, but why not an IUD until you’re completely done building your family? TESE isn’t always successful, plus it’s invasive and expensive.
+1 I wouldn’t feel comfortable with that until we’d had the second child we knew we wanted. Are your embryos tested?
No, they are not tested. My RE didn’t think it was necessary due to my age at egg retrieval (30) and diagnosis (PCOS). I feel pretty confident with 8 blasts, but I would definitely feel even better if they were tested. I think we will probably hold off on the vasectomy, just in case.
I had 7 embryos at 34yo, also with PCOS. Untested, because my RE also didn't think it was necessary. Ended up with 1 DD, 1 ectopic, 1 failed transfer, and 4 that didn't survive thawing. Having thought that we would "easily" get 2 or 3 healthy babies from those embryos then gone through that experience, I'd advise against assuming you're good with 8.
