He rolls over, sees dada (his favorite playmate) and starts chatting and reaching for him to play. In the middle of the night. If DH slept elsewhere he'd probably just try to play with me. I would be willing to keep nursing or rocking to sleep if i could then make the transfer to crib or even our bed, but as soon as i put him down he wakes and screams, no matter how sound asleep (or not) he is.
