We just moved from Howard Country MD to Vienna and My daughter will be going to 6th grade (Flint Hill ) in the fall. She was in GT at the old school and I have been trying to read up on how the AAP programs work here in Fairfax county. I am so confused and don't even know where to start. At her old school , she had separate advanced classes in the same school. I learned just today that some schools are GT centers and some are not. How do I find out this information? Our schools are Flint Hill, Thoreau and Madison. If she gets accepted into the AAP program and her school does not offer classes does that mean that she will have to travel to a different school for the classes? What is a base school, a center, LLIV? Also the testing is very different in Howard County, they use SCAT which I didn't see int he list of tests in the FCPS website so I am assuming that she will need to be tested prior to school starting? Thank you for all your help in advance!
