How many books have you read?  She's still ruthless and calculating--she's no Brienne the Beauty, another woman trying to make it in a man's world.  I feel for the women of Westeros in general, but Cersei is definitely Joffrey's mother.  Apple - tree.[/quote]

NP here. I've read all the books (and started reading them when they came out over a decade ago, so maybe my opinion has evolved), but I also feel she is a symapthetic/tragic character. I think she's delusional, paranoid, and a little overproud of her own cunning (and bad at plotting, even though she thinks she's good at it), but I agree with first PP that her lot in life illustrates a lot of the challenges women faced in the past -- considering Brienne has almost inhuman strength (heck, she's almost as strong as Jaime), I think that she's less relatable because of it (though I like her much better as a character). [b]Brienne never had to exercise "soft power" or protect her children through a regime change[/b].[/quote]

Brienne still has to deal with the threat of rape, like every other woman in the books.  And she seems motivated to do the right thing, unlike Cersei.  Cersei is responsible for getting people killed, and doesn't seem to have any remorse about it.[/quote]
