For the younger age groups everyone on the team should be on the roster but getting playing time is up to the coach. DC has been on teams where everyone played and on teams where a bunch of kids were mostly on the bench. IMO kids who are U13 or U14 and under should all get minutes.

For older age groups it usually depends on how competitive the team or league. For ECNL, MLSNext, etc. they often hold more kids on their master roster than can be on a game day roster so the coach or manager would send out the game day roster in advance. There are plenty of competitive teams that will put a max of 18 or 19 on their master roster so basically everyone goes to every game. There's always at least one person out due to injury or another obligation.[/quote]
