Help me settle a debate with my husband. I’m trying to lose weight and have recently started eating my first meal around noon and am done eating for the day by 6pm. I think I’m eating roughly the same calories I used to eat, but in 6 hours rather than 10 or 12. My husband says I will lose very little weight unless I also reduce my calories, just the timing shift won’t do much for weight loss. Do I also need to reduce calories for weight loss or is fasting a few hours enough?
Yes. The studies on intermittent fasting find that the program works only for those people who consume fewer calories during the period in which they eat. So they "think" they can eat and drink all they want during their six hour "on" period, but in reality they are simply consuming fewer calories. google it.
