Can you opt out of those classes being on the HS transcript?
Most colleges will ignore MCPS GPA calculations anyway and do their own. This might not include non-academic classes or may not include anything before 9th grade. It just depends on the school.
The colleges I've spoken with said they don't count any classes taken before high school. So, not only are they not counted for GPA, they're not counted for credit, either. For example, if a student took Spanish 1-3 during middle school, they have completed the MCPS world language requirement, but are not considered by the colleges to have had 3 years of world language. Similarly, if they took Algebra 1 and Geometry in middle school, the colleges would not consider them to have had 2 years of high school math, regardless of the final grade.
Well, you still have to take 4 years of math in HS.
