"High School Credit in Middle School
Middle school students may take selected high school courses
for credit. For students who enter Grade 6 during or after the
2018-2019 school year, the final grade and credit earned for
high school courses successfully completed while in middle
school will be reported on the high school transcript, but will
not be calculated into the cumulative GPA, unless requested
by the parent/guardian or the student, if the student is an
eligible student, as defined in MCPS Regulation JEA-RB,
Enrollment of Students. Middle school students must meet the
same requirements as high school students by earning a final
grade of A, B, C, or D each semester. Additional information
is in MCPS Regulation IKC-RA, Grade Point Averages (GPA)
and Weighted Grade Point Averages (WGPA), found at www.

Ah, the irony.
What you Googled and posted above is outdated information. The current regulation text is below, and confirms that the earlier posted information is indeed correct:
For students who entered Grade 6 during or after the 2016—2017
school year, the final grade and credit earned for high school courses
successfully completed while in middle school will be reported on
the high school transcript, but will not be calculated into the
cumulative GPA/WGPA, unless the grade earned improves the
student’s cumulative GPA/WGPA. If the course grade for a high
school course taken in middle school improves the student’s
cumulative GPA/WGPA, it will be applied automatically by MCPS.
Parents/guardians may opt out of the automatic calculation by
contacting the school counselor
