This movie is absolutely not for everyone; I think it's the kind of plot a viewer either hates immediately or find emotionally moving. And that's OK; it's just not going to be universally loved. OP, if you hated it, why keep watching? You could have bowed out after the first half hour when it was clear the plot wasn't going to be sunshine and roses. And PP is correct: You missed the fact that Otto becomes neurotic and overprotective after the accident. I want to add here, like the movie adds before it begins, that it is definitely not for anyone who has an issue with depictions of attempted suicide. Truly should be avoided if seeing clear depictions is upsetting. I was glad to see the warning at the start of the film. [/quote]
