OMG -- This is my first time in this forum on DCUM and I couldn't believe my eyes! I am divorcing a NPD man and it is PURE HELL! The "need for vengeance" line screamed out to me. I keep trying to understand this. I have asked myself (and others) "what have I done to deserve all of this?" It didn't ever occur to me it could be specific to NPD. And we have kids - will my life ever be normal again? Sorry, no therapist recommendations, but lots of virtual hugs.
I'm a few steps farther on the path and so far, no. That's what my lawyer says too. If you have in any way indicated that they are less than perfect they feel rage toward you and will use the kids and the legal process to make your life miserable. It has nothing to do with you per se, you are just an object of their wrath. Good luck!
