For some schools the proportion of students coming from wealthy well-connected families also really influences the average--they are set up for success regardless of their school. It makes no sense to generically rank on this criteria IMO--I think the info is good to have about schools but too much of it is about irrelevant factors to make the rankings make sense. I would rather compare major to major adjusted for COL, but I know that's too much to ask.[/quote] As in the OP's post, it eliminates wealthy effect to a certain level.
