It's an important tool for some who want their kids to have the best opportunity to get into top colleges if that is their goal.  Nothing gross about that.  I wish someone had done this analysis when we were considering schools.[/quote]

I think school fit is going to be more important - lets say SR is a horrible fit for your daughter and the commute would be horrible.... do you still pretend that this is the best option because it had the highest percentage here?[/quote]

Nobody above claimed it was the only factor one should consider. But I see nothing wrong with considering matriculation lists as one informative factor, just like I think college attendance rates and average SAT scores are informative. Nobody is saying you should be paying attention to these indicators if these factors are not at all important to you.[/quote]
