Work may be an issue for you b/c of the logistics.  Thankfully, you have two kids in school FT.  So for 10 months, you have them covered.  Personally, if I were in your shoes, I'd hire a nanny to care for the baby and to do the before and after care for your 8 and 11 yo.

My friend has three ages 8, 6 and 4.  She has that set up, and it's worked well.  She, too, is the main breadwinner, and her commute is miserable.  I don't know how she'll handle the nanny situation when all three are in school FT, but it's worked up to this point.

Your kids will have each other, and since they're much older, there's less of a chance of jealousy, as they'll take on a more nurturing role toward the baby.  I've seen this again and again in larger families with age gaps.  And as time goes on, you will always have built-in sitters!
