Someone mentioned the 0% vs 50%.  I think this varies across schools/teachers.  I've had teachers put in the 0% to make it clear that the assignment is missing (not poorly done) and then they change the 0s to 50% at the end of the semester.

If the teacher pushes back, then you can go to either the resource teacher for the dept or to the counselor, who will most likely just help you navigate the situation (tell you the rules and make a suggestion about who else to contact) and not take direct action.  But this is a helpful resource because they know the teachers and their proclivities and such.

If it doesn't make a difference in final grade, let it go.  The individual grades don't matter after the semester is over.[/quote]
