We found our beloved nanny when I had my first child in 2011 and had a very rough recovery (unplanned c-section). I asked a friend of mine, Sue, if she knew any babysitters as I needed someone to watch the baby while I pumped and my spouse was returning to work. Our nanny had taking care of Sue's close friends' 3 kids for 6 years or so and happened to be looking for full time work. The nanny agreed to help me out for a little while as she was searching for a FT job only b/c she was friends with my friend. Once we met, we really liked one another. We decided shortly thereafter to hire her full time once I returned to the office in late January (it was mid-November when she came to our house). We gradually increased her hours (initially it was 4, then 6 and then 7 (she went overseas over the holidays), and then when I returned to the office she came on full time. She even turned down a higher paying job with another family that needed lots of help (both private law firm attorneys), b/c she wanted more time with her family and clicked with us better. We got a call from my office day care that they had a spot for us in February, but since we liked our nanny so much we stayed with her. It's been 4 years since we parted ways, and we are still very close with her and her family. Obviously, this was all very good luck for everyone involved, but this is how we found our beloved nanny, who is still like a grandmother to my two kids.
