Like 17:02 mentions, if the event is for Black parents at X school the event is meant to be a safe space for Black parents. If the event is for families of students of color or Black students, it’s meant to be inclusive of all the different flavors. Try to substitute orientation. Imagine a group of Gay parents want to organize and have safe space about issues they face being Gay parents at X school. If you are straight and have a gay child, this group may not be for you. Now if the group meeting was to be supportive of gay students at X school, then gay or straight parents would attend with their students (if parents were invited to this event). [/quote]
