My child came back with his KRA report this week but the teacher didn’t provide us with any information outside of the report. It seems like the report gages whether your child is ready for kindergarten and how you can, based on the score, help prepare the child if they are not. I’m confused why I am getting results now and why the test isn’t completed prior to placing a child in kindergarten. Did the teachers also just now get the results? Are these tests results used by the teacher/school in any way?
If your child wasn't in HeadStart or PEP, then there was no way to access them for this test beforehand. Moreover, kids aren't really "placed" in kindergarten in the United States - they are enrolled because they are the appropriate age. Did your child have some issues on the test? Some need for remediation? What exactly is upsetting you here?
OP here. Nothing is upsetting me and I don't see that I said that I was upset. I am just trying to understand what the test is for and how the results are used. I understand that you can't access kids to see if they are ready for kindergarten before they enroll, so since this test is offered after enrollment and results come out mid-semester, I wanted to know what the purpose is. Does it simply guide teachers and parents on how to approach the rest of the year?
