Does Georgetown Prep have merit based scholarships or athletic scholarships? Thanks?
They have neither athletic or academic scholarships. This isn't college, so using collge terms is going to confuse the situation. What they have is a pot of Financial Aid money set aside for appicants and current students. They distribute that money to boys that have a financial need and who apply for the aid. They then distribute it. Once the money is gone it is gone.
And your son's chance of dipping into that pot increase substantially if he happens to be a star athlete.
or a star student. Or maybe a minority. The admissions committee/office gets pressure from all the various factions on the campus. They try to balance all the needs. With 125 boys in a class, GP doesn't have to chase individual athletes quite so hard as they might have in the past when classes were smaller.
