My husband and I are shopping for a new suv with third row. We are completely frustrated with Hyundai. We are interested in the Palisade and put a credit card deposit. On the phone they said it will only be MSRP plus taxes , license and fees. We went in person and they said the same thing. When we emailed them to ask if car was on the way, they said oh by the way there are 5k of extra fees you have to pay. How unethical is this?!!! Please beware of buying new cars now. And used cars are now the price of new cars. We are so frustrated by this - we have wasted time from our jobs and family to visit these dealerships and still no car - they will basically lie to you - it’s actually disgusting
I have been looking for new cars for a while and following forums to find dealers that don't charge MSRP etc and this is apparently the new thing dealers are doing to say they aren't charging a dealer markup. Basically customers are frustrated at the markup so they now add "services" that you don't want and are totally overpriced. Apparently some of the warehouses (might not be the right word- but basically the regional ports where the cars come in before being distributed to dealers) are also doing the same thing for another layer of markup. Things like window tinting etc that have already been done so they say you can't remove them.
