Caps don’t offend me if copy/pasted. I found the data interesting. It bothers me that 15% of AO’s are gay. Being gay/binary/trans has become too much of a hook when most of these kids are privileged and probably won’t face much discrimination in life. I feel elite schools are recruiting too narrowly. You end up with a student body composed of very leftist students intolerant of free speech. Like those Yale kids vowing to follow conservatives around 24 hours a day to make their life unbearable.
According to Gallup 21% of Gen Z (which would be kids applying to college) identify as LGBTQ. So 15% would not even reflect the demographics of applicant pool. Also, this data is useless as no individual AO office aligns with this demographic profile exactly. Would be more helpful to know specific college, and even then, who knows what the profile of the particular reader(s) your kid would get. Let’s not worry about stuff we can’t figure out the implications of.
