Jeff---care to respond directly to the real life experiences of a DC small business owner?  Progressives like Silverman never care to hear about what happens  to businesses in real life.  If they did, they would craft legislation like this much more carefully.  But Silverman, like Allen, Nadeau, etc. absolutely do not care to understand private sector economic realities.[/quote]

Do you propose that we not have family leave because a few businesses might be inconvenienced? Many people have greatly benefited from paid family leave:

Do you want to tell Zach here that he shouldn't be staying home to care for his son? Do you want new mothers returning to work after two weeks because they can't afford to stay with their newborn child longer than that?

Employers will learn to adapt to paid family leave just as they have in other countries. If the small business owner's employees are abusing the system, she should report them. There are always a few who will take advantage of anything. It's not a good idea to throw the baby out with the bath water.
