underrated wordplay here, Jeff. Thanks.
Unfortunately I will have to throw out 8 babies in a few weeks. I just got my 4th notice in 2 weeks that yet another caregiver will be taking 12 weeks of leave beginning next month. We struggled to stay open, to keep providing care and paychecks/benefits throughout the pandemic. I think I’m ready to pack it in. I don’t begrudge individuals who truly need the leave. This particular person was sure to enquire about whether she will still be eligible for her Child Care Equity Fund payment while out on leave, otherwise she would put her leave off. This will be her second DCPFL stint, as it renews yearly. She is a DC resident though! I’m sure the market will figure this all out, I just can’t do it anymore. I’m too tired.

We are actually going to have to close classrooms due to not having enough people to work, because so many are using this leave at once. It is wonderful to have a safety net for those who truly need it; however some people are using it for very interesting reasons including cosmetic surgery. People are actually looking for reasons to use it so they don't miss out on a 12 week vacation every year. One person has even taken legal custody of her adult child's new baby so that she can take family leave.
Jeff---care to respond directly to the real life experiences of a DC small business owner? Progressives like Silverman never care to hear about what happens to businesses in real life. If they did, they would craft legislation like this much more carefully. But Silverman, like Allen, Nadeau, etc. absolutely do not care to understand private sector economic realities.

Yeah. Paid for by District businesses for employees most of whom are not District residents.
