Fall conferences are typically more about the teacher getting information from you about your kid than providing significant information about your child’s academic achievement.  The latter is more the focus of the spring conferences.[/quote]

I have older kids and no, they used to share the first reading assessment with you at the conference and show you writing samples etc.  And yes ask you questions about your kid too.  But it was a two-way sharing of information.[/quote]

Then why did APS move them from the beginning of October to the end of October?  When they made that move the stated reason was to give more time for assessments and so the teacher would be in a better position to talk about academic strengths and weaknesses. You have older kids. Perhaps you had the tell me about your child conferences in early October.  They moved to late October and STILL can’t tell me anything. [/quote]

They got through the assessments in the first month of school when the conferences were earlier.  And they started school after labor day!  It used to be just PALS.  That might be faster to give to all the kids?   [/quote]
