It's usually considered a hardship to have to spend just one year in a new school environment. I suspect that rising 8th graders will stay at Westland, but rising 6th and 7th will go to the new school. Handling it this way also avoids a lot of potential morale problems with the 8th grade and new school administration. I think I remember one of the building planning people saying this early on in one of the meetings. Is there anyone who has experienced this at a new middle school? Did rising 8th graders transfer?
