If it eases your mind, I've been told that in these cases they give 8th graders the choice of whether to move or not.

I have a second grader in this district, and I'm curious too. Especially for those of us from Rosemary Hills - our 2nd graders could conceivably do middle school at 3 separate places: 6th at CCES/NCC; 7th at Westland; 8th at the new middle school. I am really happy they're building a new school and will look forward to my younger child going there, and I'm not thrilled about the commute to Westland...but 3 schools in 3 years seems too disruptive. It's still a ways off, but just one more thing to worry about.

Not sure that rising 8th graders will make the leap to a new school. It's usually considered a hardship to have to spend just one year in a new school environment. I suspect that rising 8th graders will stay at Westland, but rising 6th and 7th will go to the new school. Handling it this way also avoids a lot of potential morale problems with the 8th grade and new school administration. I think I remember one of the building planning people saying this early on in one of the meetings.
Is there anyone who has experienced this at a new middle school? Did rising 8th graders transfer?

Does anyone know what the expected traffic patterns around the new MS are supposed to be? What road will be used for buses and student drop off by car, etc.?

maybe maybe not, based on teh lack of real support for the other locations and the lack of real support that testified and showed up, I don't think they have the ammo to over turn it.
