Sometimes I don’t think people realize what all inclusive means. There are plenty of wonderful resorts that include a ton of activities. If that’s not all inclusive. All inclusive means all you can eat and drink and is typically, but not always, associated with a lower quality. Many years ago we were supposed to go to St. Lucia for Thanksgiving in a hurricane hit, so we got rerouted to Central America.
OP here - we're not huge drinkers, but I do know that food and activities can add up at resorts. That's why I mentioned all inclusives. I"m open to other resorts that have other activities, and a kid's club would be nice but not required as we'll have a couple teens with us if we need an occasional babysitter.
I’m the one that recommended against all inclusive s. I’ve tracked a couple different times and even if we eat/drink what we want, it always comes out less. I think it can be different if you are the type to always order the most expensive thing on the menu (my husband always gets the chicken and my daughter always gets the pasta), if you are heavy drinkers, etc. in my experience, the activities included at AI tend to be sort of meh and then they charge extra for the other ones. They can be worth it for specific things like a water park or kids club though. Things like that do add up.
