Can someone please provide a great educational consultant for highly intelligent, but has ADHD/ODD and is just not working at the public school (we have had him in behavior therapy for a year now and work closely with the school.) He is very smart/advanced, but just won't listen to any authority, is constatnly in the principal's office - he is six years old! There are a variety of positive reinforcement programs in place for him and we are in touch with the teachers and he gets negative consequences at home.
Is he on medication?
The OP is looking for an educational consultant, not a doctor. Medication has nothing to do with placement.
I'm wondering what OP is hoping to gain from the educational consultant. More curious than anything else. She didn't say she is looking for school placement. It sounds more like she is just wanting things to work better at the current school. If the kid's behavior is that affected, and therapy and other interventions have not worked, it sounds like medication might be worth a try. I'm wondering what an educational consultant would offer in this situation. I always thought the educational consultant helped with classroom modification and accommodations and things like that.
