In order to prepare my DC for math count contest what does DC need to know, Algebra 1 or Algebra 2? I am planning to put DC in AOPS and trying to decide what course should I opt for?
Mathcounts posts the questions and answers for last year's state and chapter tests. They're here: https://www.mathcounts.org/resources/past-competitions The cutoff for making nationals from VA is generally around 38 points on the State round. Algebra 2 helps, but the most important thing is to be very solid on Algebra 1 and Geometry. Don't select AOPS level based on Mathcounts. Select the level that is appropriate for your child. AOPS has diagnostics that show which math class would be the most appropriate.
