My child’s college requires covid booster for Fall 2022. Isn’t the current recipe not really aiming at Omicron? Is it really necessary to get a booster?
If it’s required by the school, then apparently it is necessary, if your kid wants to go to that school.
This. My kid got his booster last week. He had two shots then had covid twice. I know it’s worthless against the current varient, but it’s required.
Mine didn’t react well to the vaccine, making me feel hesitant about the booster.
If you haven't already done so, thoroughly explore the school's website for exemption potential. Be aware that in many states, doctors are explicitly prohibited from writing covid vaccine exemptions by their state licensing board. Also, the ease or difficulty of getting a medical exemption approved by the university varies quite widely - some schools, perhaps no problem, others, next to impossible absent a PEG allergy. Good luck.
In addition, colleges can require those with exemptions to follow different masking or quarantine protocol, and can even ask them to leave campus in the event of an outbreak
