I got an email that my son qualified for college credit for his Intro to Engineering Design class through the Rochester Institute of Technology. I have to pay $225 to get it. Is it worth it? Will it really make any difference on his high school transcript to colleges? Thanks
I thought they have to pass a test to earn the credit.
OP here -- Yes, he passed the test. I don't really care if a college takes the credit, more wondering if colleges would see it on his high school transcript and that could help with admissions. That would be the only reason I can see to pay the $$.
They see the course (IED) on the HS transcript. If your child completes the 5 PLTW courses, that’s notable for engineering school admission. The college credit is useful as elective credit at least. If your kid ends up at RIT, it’s more useful to satisfy core requirements. I consider it like an expensive, but already know result, AP exam.
