This is a bit confusing to me - Are you saying that your DD did 1 a/b last year during covid and did not need film cameras, but this year, the teacher had the current 1a/b students buy film cameras? Thanks for clarification![/quote]
Yes. My DD did 1 a/b virtually last year during Covid. She didn't need any equipment except her IPhone.

She signed up for Photography 2 this year but because of her schedule, she was placed in the 1a/b class during the fall semester. Teacher said it wasn't a big deal because at least this way, she would be able to get darkroom experience. Something she missed last year obviously. She needed a film camera.

In second semester, she moved to the class with all Photography 2 students. This semester, she needed a digital camera to shoot pictures.[/quote]

I'm the Photo 3 mom above. At our school, kids in Photo 2, 3, and 4 are frequently grouped together, working on similar projects/topics, but different levels of photo or arts skill. DC was very happy that they didn't have any Photo 2 students in first semester because the Photo 2 students were getting film camera instruction since they didn't have it last year and it is still important.
