She is taking Photography 2 this year but was in the 1a/1b class first semester. In person. The teacher had the class buy film cameras. YOu can get them for ~$50 from ebay.
This is a bit confusing to me - Are you saying that your DD did 1 a/b last year during covid and did not need film cameras, but this year, the teacher had the current 1a/b students buy film cameras? Thanks for clarification!
Yes. My DD did 1 a/b virtually last year during Covid. She didn't need any equipment except her IPhone.
She signed up for Photography 2 this year but because of her schedule, she was placed in the 1a/b class during the fall semester. Teacher said it wasn't a big deal because at least this way, she would be able to get darkroom experience. Something she missed last year obviously. She needed a film camera.
In second semester, she moved to the class with all Photography 2 students. This semester, she needed a digital camera to shoot pictures.

The program is intended to be 100% with a film camera. The first quarter is history of photography, etc. so no camera was needed until early in 2nd marking period.
They processed film in the classroom's darkroom in Photo 1. Pretty neat stuff. Are you sure this is a fully online course for summer school?
I would ask the photo teacher at the school what the expectations are. But I would fully expect a film camera with b&w film (our school provided the film).
DC is in Photo 3 now and loves it.
Thanks! Yes, it is online for summer school. Unfortunately we do not know who the teacher will be.
