My teen is staring a job soon, and I flaked on getting her set up with a teen checking account. Can I have her paycheck direct deposited in my checking account? I know that’s not ideal. Also, when I help her open a checking account, does my name need to be on it too? She is 15. Thanks!
It takes less than an hours to set this up and I suspect you can do it online. We did this with Bank of America. It was a joint account between DC and myself but he got the debit card in his name and gets to operate it. We also setup a savings account to hold more anything than $100. He can transfer any money he needs to checking before using his debit card. Protects from debit card fraud.
This is what we have done for our 3 kids. Before covid, it took less than an hour inperson. But now, who knows. If I were you, i would call you bank branch and ask when you and your kid can come in to set this up.
I’d be surprised if you have to go in. You can accomplish this in minutes online with Capital One.
