These are the types of statements that always amaze me. West Potomac is considered a great school nationally in terms of its academics. Does it score as high as Langley/McLean? No. But knowing some kids who go to those schools, I have to say I'm glad I'm not sending my kids to such a pressure cooker. If you are interested in your child receiving a solid academic education, while still be exposed to diversity at all levels - religous, socio-economic, racial, then you should consider West Potomac as a fine school to send your kids to. If you can't look past average test scores or the percentage of FARMs students, then there are better schools. But people - don't kid yourself into thinking that your specific kid is going to get a better education at Langley than at West Potomac. It just isn't true. The teachers on average are NOT better and WestPo will have the same number of IB/AP course offerings.
WestPo has no IB program. It does have nearly as many AP course offerings as Langley. Those at WestPo who load up on 4-5 AP courses every semester are probably as likely as a similar Langley student to feel some academic pressure.
