But admissions get increasingly competitive later and they are looking for reasons not to admit your kid so they can winnow the pile. If your kid is a total standout, maybe you'll get in anyway. I'm sure it happens sometimes. But if you didn't like School X enough to pick it in K, why would they choose your kid over a few dozen other applicants for 9th? So you can decide not to attend again?[/quote]
