Hogan never claimed to get a planeload of PPE— he claimed he got a planeload of tests from South Korea, but if you actually paid attention to the followup it turns out he overpaid for tests that didn’t work, weren’t FDA approved and had to be returned. $9 million of taxpayers money wasted for a publicity stunt that helped no one except Hogan’s PR machine (don’t forgrt another $500,000 to charter a plane to fly the useless unapproved tests here).

Stupid comment. Yes, Hogan made a mistake here.  But he was thinking ahead, and trying to get something done.  No doubt, money was wasted due to do COVID, but being a Monday am QB is easy.[/quote]

If you read the editorial they make the point that if Hogan just said “sorry I made a mistake, I was trying my best for MD in uncertain times and it turns out I wasted $10 million” people would probably cut him a break, even though if he had just followed common sense (don’t commit to buying tests until you k ow they are FDA approved) and procurement regs he wouldn’t have wasted that money.

Instead he’s never owned up to it— he just said the tests were “traded in” for a better version and refused to discuss of any of the Korean tests were ever even used by Maryland residents. What he cares about is his photo op and that’s all he cares about. [/quote]
