Hello Parents, I will thank you all for your valuable input about AAP. My son is in 1st grade. He has scored 99% in NNAT2. His teacher says that he is overall a good student. We wanted to make a trip abroad during the last week of MAY 2012. He would be missing around 19 days of school. I would like to know if it in way affect his chances of getting into AAP. I know that he has a long way to get into GT. He needs to get good scores in COGAT and also high GBRS. Your advise on things is appreciated. Thanks
I think he would simply be withdrawn from FCPS and you would have to reenroll him. http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/files/8KSQJE6808AC/$file/R2234.pdf E. Mandatory Withdrawal In order to comply with state recordkeeping requirements, students shall be withdrawn from FCPS student membership rolls after 15 consecutive days of absence regardless of whether their absences are excused or unexcused. Withdrawn students are not excused from mandatory school attendance requirements and are expected to reenroll as soon as possible. Students who withdraw to attend a non-FCPS school should notify FCPS as soon as possible.
