[quote=Anonymous]We're getting ready to start a major bathroom remodel and I'm seeing in a number of places that rectangular (subway) tile is on its way out--at least in its more traditional, brick-style placement. Supposedly, the 80's style square tiles are making a resurgence. Would you remodel a bathroom right now with rectangular tile? If we did it, we most likely would stick with the traditional installation but we're strongly considering white zellige tile (or a zellige look-alike) to add some texture and movement. Our house is a 40's-era cape cod, so I'm not sure a more modern, stacked or vertical placement would feel right. We may try a herringbone pattern on the floor similar to the first photo below, which I love. Option two would be to go with a square zellige, which would probably feel a little more current. Option three would be to stick with a more traditional subway a la photo number three, which I also like--but again, worry about investing in a dying trend. I don't think I'm adventurous enough try a square ceramic. Any thoughts?
