How much running is done at your practices? My kids coach does a lot of running at practices also uses it as punishment quite a bit. This completely annoys me as I’m paying for the coach to train soccer not fitness. Curious what other teams do. This is an ECNL team, so especially curious for those teams they f this is a norm
Depends on the club. Some ECNL clubs are all about fitness(my dd told me she was getting 5-10 touches at practice we moved clubs). The coach believed fitness and speed wins. Other clubs incorporated fitness into training with game like drills and the ball- short burst, jog, burst, jog, burst with ball or trying to win the ball. All drills are alway opposed- ie one player or group of players run the drill, the other player or group of players try to win the ball. There are good and bad coaches in the ECNL. They just have a higher level of athleticism in the ECNL not great coaching or some magical technical training techniques.
