My understanding is that you have to take up to 4 years (level A/B, 2, 3, 4) of FL, but I thought you could take a different FL at some point.  There are some kids in DC's Spanish 2B class who started out taking French but then switched to Spanish.

But now, DC says MCPS changed it such that you must take the same FL all four years.

But according to MCPS grad requirements, starting from class of 2025 (DC is class of 2026), it says

"2 credits in the same world language AND 2 credits in elective courses"

Anyone know for sure? Of course, I will ask MCPS, but DC said this is what the counselor told them in class when scheduling HS courses.  I don't want to ask the same counselor who said this.  Or maybe DC misheard, but DC said they asked other kids in the class if this is what they heard, and they all said yes.
