The latest CDC guidance says you have to be either within six months of second dose or boosted to avoid quarantine when exposed to a close COVID contacts. Are the schools just not following that and ignoring the CDC? I really don’t get this at all!
They were saying 6 months from the second dose or booster from what I recall on the late Dec/Early Jan updates but they just posted a new chart that says under 18 doesn’t need to quarantine if they received primary doses. Here is where it’s posted: https://www.lcps.org/Page/239784 I was actually glad they made a chart because there’s been a few different policy changes and it’s hard to keep track of.
Thanks. I agree it’s impossible to keep up! Have you seen where CDC says that particular group doesn’t need to quarantine?
Not really sure about the CDC. I work for LCPS with that general age group. So far in my experience they have been following the policies they put out and there are asymptomatic kids who have not tested positive but have someone in their home who tested positive for example but not required to pause. Even before when it was getting vaccinated in the last six months it seems like most kids in this age group got vaccinated in the last six months anyway. Many parts of the county have very high vaccination rates in this age group. I would say in athletics there have been wider spread pauses for multiple cases. But from what I understood, that was more of administrative thing where the contact tracing office (? or set of employees) couldn’t prioritize athletics with the omicron surge so they had to to temporarily pause teams until they could get to them.
