I also want to know, how old are the neighbors? Is this bad for young families? Is this seen as a poor section of McLean?
The neighborhood was built in the mid-60s, so most of the homes have turned over at least once, if not twice or more. It's one of the few traditional sub-divisions with sidewalks and relatively affordable homes in the Langley HS district, close to the local ES (Spring Hill), and not too far from the MS/HS (Cooper/Langley). It has its own swim club, which is very nice, and is also close to Tysons and not far from Reston. The main criticisms that come up are that some of the houses need work and some get noise from the Dulles Toll Road. Otherwise, they are a pretty nice deal for families. Compared to other parts of McLean, there are relatively few teardowns. Similar neighborhoods include Shouse Village off Trap Road in Vienna (now also zoned to Langley HS) and Potomac Hills off Kirby Road in McLean (zoned to McLean HS). I've never heard anyone refer to any of these neighborhoods as the "poor section" of McLean (or Vienna), but of course people know they aren't the most expensive sections, either.
