I would only go this route for a generally healthy adult on the younger side with no addiction issues, and only once to get a good nights sleep. And also only if you know what kind of illness you’re dealing with — like is this a lingering post illness cough or a new illness that is still unfolding. I once took a Percocet left over from a c section to help with coughing fits at night after getting over a virus, and it helped me get the sleep I need.

I know enough pharmacology and how my body reacts to opioids to feel comfortable doing this on a one time basis. YMMV.

PP again. Sorry I somehow missed that this is a Covid cough. Not sure I’d mess with that. I was thinking more along the lines of a cough that can last for a while after recovering from an illness and mess up sleep. [/quote]
