What are you using for cough meds?

can't sleep? chest hurts when coughs?
I would say the only things you can do is Mucinex DM, prop head up on extra pillows at night, humidifier, Vicks vapor rub, cough drops, the usual...
If wheezing/chest tightness then albuterol or steroid.
Time should help the most.

Opioids suppress cough. Thanks ne of the most effective cough suppressants is prescription cough syrup that contains codeine.
I would only go this route for a generally healthy adult on the younger side with no addiction issues, and only once to get a good nights sleep. And also only if you know what kind of illness you’re dealing with — like is this a lingering post illness cough or a new illness that is still unfolding. I once took a Percocet left over from a c section to help with coughing fits at night after getting over a virus, and it helped me get the sleep I need.
I know enough pharmacology and how my body reacts to opioids to feel comfortable doing this on a one time basis. YMMV.
