This documentary proofs the OP right. The Da Vinci Code (2006) 149 min - Historical Documentary - 19 May 2006 (USA) 6.4 Your rating: -/10 Ratings: 6.4/10 from 153,240 users Metascore: 46/100 Reviews: 1,930 user | 278 critic | 40 from Metacritic.com A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years -- which could shake the foundations of Christianity.
The last sentence here makes no sense in this context, unless one assumes Christianity equals Catholicism, which it does not. As a factual matter, the Catholic Church has more societies, orders, etc, than other parts of Christianity, and some of those societies, orders, etc, are less than open. All of that leads to conspiracy theories. The Mormons have the same issue in a sense. Closed governance process. Lots of rumours. But this is just a movie. And I did not interpret it as anti-Catholic. Of course, there is a history of anti-Catholicism here and elsewhere, but I do not see it as a big issue now. And I am married to a Catholic. There is more than enough bad beheavoir in the Catholic Church to go around.
